Enterprise Mobility

Naturally, I manage to find graphic design projects to benefit the people I work with whether I’m in a graphic design roll or not. I’ve created a couple things I wanted to showcase.

Enterprise, National, and Alamo rents cars to people from around the world. For anyone coming from outside of the US or Canada we ask them to fill out a slip of paper for us to ensure information is accurately collected. When I joined the team the slip we were using was vague, photocopied from a photocopy (multiple times), and all text was a in a serif font. Not only did it look bad but because of how vague the prompts were, the customers had several questions every time the filled it out. It was a poor experience for our customers and our employees. It needed a refresh.

Although the design isn’t complex in any way, the creation of it was a learning experience for me. It started off as a quick redesign and refinement started by me, it turned into a project between me and about 5 managers. I learned how to communicate and create compromises in order to make the best product I could. The result is being used dozens of times a day between all three brands, Enterprise, National, and Alamo at the SLC Airport. The response from my coworkers was way more enthusiastic than I think an International Renter Checklist warrants, but I’m glad they’re happy.

Another issue I noticed had to do with our after hours signage. Our counter above the garage closes at 12:00am but we still assist customers in the garage until 1:30am at least. We had signs upstairs that we put up at 12:00 but they had the same issues as our original international slip. Vague, poorly designed, and photocopied several times. I also decided to redesign them myself. That also turned into an extremely collaborative project, more than the first one. This one was more fun to me, as I got to do a little more design work. These signs are put up at 12:00 every day, and the Alamo and Enterprise specific ones are up 24/7 downstairs in the garage.

There’s genuinely nothing more exciting to me than seeing my work out in the wild. Although the reach of this project is quite small it’s still fun to see people react to the new things I make. A lot of my coworkers thank me for making their job a little easier.
